What a year we’ve had with the nation’s favorite P.E teacher, Joe Wicks. After the summer’s successful P.E. with Joe tour, we wanted to spread even more Big Love. So, in November, we launched the Walk with Joe series to get people walking, talking and feeling amazing – all while raising over £560,000 for BBC Children in Need!
WHAT WAS IT ALL ABOUT?
From behind the wheel of his trusty MINI Countryman Plug-in Hybrid, Joe visited four parkrun locations in the UK – Maidenhead, Newport, Camperdown and Rushcliffe – where he was joined in total by 3,714 of our wonderful MINI community!
We welcomed people of all ages and fitness levels, giving them chance to meet new friends (Joe included!), have a good natter, and experience the mental and physical benefits of exercise. The good vibes were boosted with free coffee, fresh fruit and cards featuring positive affirmations that Joe swears by, as well as plenty of feel-good tunes and photo ops.
To top off his fundraising adventures, Joe followed his four parkrun events by walking a whopping 30-mile ultra-marathon in Salford. Of course, he absolutely smashed it – go Joe!
BIG LOVE. BIG FUNDRASING.
While all the events were completely free to attend, 100% of the proceeds collected went to BBC Children in Need. And thanks to your incredible generosity, that meant we raised an incredible £564,000 for the charity. Now THAT’S Big Love!
Those at the parkrun events will also have spotted our Big Love Bootbank – a mobile donation station in the boot of a MINI Electric, where people can give running gear to communities that need it most. And that they certainly did, with over 455 items donated – from trainers to tights – across the Walk with Joe events. Great stuff!
